Madisyn Smith

Podiatry Assistant

Madisyn Smith

Madisyn, or Maddy, began her career as a Podiatry Assistant over 4 years ago in her hometown of Mackay, North Queensland. She completed her Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance, which enabled her to support podiatrists and manage low-risk clients independently.

Maddy’s passion for podiatry was sparked when she witnessed the profound difference podiatrists made in her community. Inspired by their work, she decided to pursue her own path toward becoming a podiatrist. Working alongside experienced podiatrists helps Maddy deepen her understanding of the field, blending the knowledge gained in the classroom with hands-on practice in a real-world setting. After all, there’s no better way to become a skilled podiatrist than by working with feet every day!

Over the course of her 4 years as a podiatry assistant, Maddy has gained extensive experience in treating a variety of conditions, from Severs disease and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) to tendon ruptures, nerve entrapment, and other common foot pain issues. She is particularly passionate about helping clients live pain-free lives, whether it’s walking on the beach, playing sports, or running around with family and pets. Maddy is eager to continue learning throughout her degree, with the goal of giving back to her community through the care she provides.

As a hands-on learner, Maddy is a valuable resource for many podiatry-related questions and is always happy to assist. She works closely with podiatrists to ensure that all treatment and care are aligned with best practices, and for any issues outside her expertise, a podiatrist is always available to provide support.

Maddy is available to see clients for a range of treatments, including:

  • General nail and skin care (such as cracked heels, calluses, and corns)
  • Neurovascular assessments/diabetic foot checks (results reviewed by your podiatrist)
  • Ongoing PACT therapy for fungal nail infections
  • Shockwave and MLS laser treatments (as directed by your podiatrist)
  • Surgical re-dressings

To book an appointment with Maddy, clients must have been seen by a podiatrist within the past 12 months and should not have any active foot health issues, such as:

  • Active ulcers requiring treatment or redressing
  • Infected or ingrown toenails

Maddy is excited to be part of your podiatric journey and looks forward to helping you achieve your foot health goals! 😊
