Shockwave therapy is a treatment where high and low energy shockwaves are sent to the site of an injury via a hand held probe. It's a non-invasive treatment that stimulates an immune response within the body which initiates healing to the treated area. Some conditions that podiatrists commonly use shockwave therapy on are heel spurs, plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis.
Muscles within the feet can have trigger points, which are more commonly known as muscle knots. They can occur through the repetitive strain of the area or from an injury. Dry needling treatment involves inserting into the muscle trigger points. The result is relief from foot pain, and the regimen can also encourage injured tissue to repair itself.
PACT therapy is mainly used to treat fungal infections in the toenail. While cream is often used for fungal infections in other areas of the body, it can be very hard to penetrate the hard exterior of the nail. PACT is much more effective than anti-fungal cream in treating fungal infections in nails. It isn't a laser treatment but, instead, works by sending a high beam LED light that essentially kills the fungal cells. It's a quick, safe and painless treatment.
Swift Therapy is a simple and safe treatment used to eliminate warts. At The Feet People, we commonly use this method to eradicate plantar warts, which are highly contagious and occur on the feet. Swift Therapy delivers microwave energy to the root cause of the wart. This energy is sent directly to the affected tissue and encourages the body to produce an immune response that fights off the virus that causes warts.
Orthotic therapy is the use of shoe inserts that are personally fitted to correct a problem with the alignment of a patient's foot. To ensure that the problem is treated effectively, we conduct a video gait analysis that can assess identify the root of a bad habit or injury. Custom orthotics are then designed to correct this problem.
A diabetic foot is a condition where ulcers can form on the foot and is a complication of diabetes. This is a very dangerous condition, that can lead to amputation in extreme cases. This is why it's so important to have a regular foot check-up if you suffer from diabetes.
We can treat specific conditions as well as help with general foot care. We offer our patients a range of foot care and nail surgery options for nail conditions, like fungal or ingrown nails and common skin conditions like corns, cracked heels, callous, warts, psoriasis, and Athletes foot.
After you've finished with your appointment, it's important that you still take care of your feet! We offer a wide variety of foot care products to help with footwear fitting such as The Well Heeled range, Callusan skin hydration, nail care and beauty products from Dr Remedy, anti-inflammatory products for tired achy muscles and joints like Fisiocrem, anti-fungal skin treatments.
All of our practitioners are registered with the podiatry board of Australia which is administered by Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
