At The Feet People we treat a wide range of different conditions that are linked to the foot and ankle. Below are some of the podiatry services we offer.
People with diabetes are at risk of nerve damage and poor circulation, if these conditions affect the foot, serious health complications, like diabetic ulcers, can occur. That's why it's important for people with diabetes to get a foot check up with a podiatrist - especially if they are feeling any discomfort in their lower limbs at all. Our podiatrists can examine the problem area, if they recognize any abnormalities they can work out a treatment plan with the patient.
Dry Needling is commonly used in podiatry to help reduce pain and increase mobility in the foot and lower limb region. The treatment works by inserting tiny needles into muscles that are identified as trigger points. These needles help to relax the muscle and when the myofascial trigger points (muscle knots) are released, relief should be felt and mobility increased.
Shockwave therapy is used to treat conditions like heel spur syndrome, plantar fasciitis and achiles tendinitis. The treatment can not only help relieve the associated pain but also help treat the condition itself. Shockwave therapy works by sending energy waves to the injured tissue which encourages the body to promote healing in that particular area, through activities like improved blood circulation and the formation of new blood vessels.
PACT therapy is used to treat fungal nail infections. Before PACT, oral medication and creams were prescribed. The treatment eliminates the infection by delivering photodynamic therapy to the infected area which induces fungal cell death without affecting the surrounding tissue. The oral medication can come with complicated side effects and the creams were largely ineffective.
Swift Therapy is used to eliminate warts. At The Feet People we commonly used the treatment on plantar warts. Plantar warts are very contagious and usually occur on the feet. Swift therapy works by delivering low-dose microwave energy to the wart, instigating an immune response from the body to kill off the HPV virus that creates warts.
Custom orthotics are used to correct a variety of problems connected to feet alignment, one of the most common conditions orthotics correct is called flat feet. When orthotics are correctly used, they can correct an abnormal gait, reduce pain, correct foot alignment and provide adequate support to feet. Custom orthotics must be created by a skilled professional (like a podiatrist) so that they can be fit to address the problems specific to the patient.
We offer our patients a range of foot care options for nail conditions, like ingrown or fungal toenails and common skin conditions like Athletes foot, corns, callous, cracked heels, warts, psoriasis.
Attending to your feet after an appointment is of utmost importance too. We offer a wide variety of foot care products to help with footwear fitting such as The Well Heeled range, Callusan skin hydration, nail care and beauty products from Dr Remedy, anti-inflammatory products for tired achy muscles and joints like Fisiocrem, anti-fungal skin treatments.
