Ria Kartika

Ria was born and raised in the bustling city of Jakarta, Indonesia. She speaks fluently in Bahasa Indonesia and English. She moved to Brisbane in 2012 to pursue her passion for podiatric care. She completed her Bachelor of Podiatry with Honours from Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

Growing up in Indonesia, lower limb problems are often neglected and poorly understood. She always aspired to become a health care practitioner from an early age due to her interest in health and desire to help people with pain.

Throughout her career, she discovered her interest in management of complex musculoskeletal cases for chronic pain management and neurological conditions affecting lower limbs. She has worked  extensively with patients suffering chronic conditions, such as patients with knee/ foot osteoarthritis, peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia, and CRPS. From her interaction with these cases, she has come to understand the importance of involving a pain specialist and multidisciplinary team in managing their complex case through the up and down of their pain and emotion. Her goal as a podiatrist is to provide holistic care, focusing not only on the feet but also on the overall well-being of my patients.

Ria also enjoys other aspects of podiatry, such as treating children, ingrown toenails, fungal nails, and diabetic assessment. She continually keeps her knowledge and skills current by attending conferences and workshops. She is a member of the Australian Podiatry Association.

Outside of work, she is a keen “foodie” who enjoys trying out new restaurants and cooking different cuisines. She tries to burn her calories through wall-climbing, badminton, running and yoga.
