Do I need orthotics?

Are you experiencing pain anywhere between your lower back and your feet? Then foot orthotics could be a key part of your treatment.

There are a number of conditions that can benefit from the use of orthotics including:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Bursitis
  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Bunions
  • And many more

Our podiatrists recommend custom-made foot insoles as these are modelled and designed specifically for your feet, to address and resolve your foot and leg problems.

How do they work?

Custom orthotics work by:

  • Supporting the tired muscles, joints and ligaments in your legs and feet whenever you are weight-bearing.
  • Reducing the load placed on injured structures
  • Increasing and improve regular foot function and balance.
  • Aiding in the resolution of acute and chronic injuries.
  • Preventing or healing of diabetic ulcers by offloading high pressure areas/ulcers.
  • Encouraging optimal foot propulsion through your walking and running activities.
  • Addressing any leg length differences you may have.
  • Providing shock absorbing and cushioning abilities that your feet may no longer have.

OUR PROCESS

Step 1
Our podiatrists will capture a 3D digital cast of your foot then prescribe and design your orthotic using a computerised modelling program to select appropriate materials and design modifications that are specific to your feet and lower limb condition(s).

Step 2
This design is the sent to our orthotic laboratory where your custom made orthotic is either 3D printed using a nylon material or milled out of an EVA.

Step 3
Once the orthotic is complete, the podiatrist will have a consultation with you to ensure the device fits your feet and your shoes. Any fine-tuning adjustments to make sure they are comfortable are done at the dispense appointment or within two weeks of getting the orthotics. Given the orthotics are made for your feet they should be comfortable. If they aren't comfortable after a gradual wearing in process then this can be fixed by the podiatrist.

Step 4
If your orthotics aren't comfortable after a gradual wearing in process, then this can be fixed by the podiatrist. We back every foot orthotic as we stand behind our clinical skills and will continue to work with you if you have any concerns regarding your orthotics.

Am extremely impressed with the service, professionalism & Aran's amazing skills in getting me in orthotics & well fitting shoes, that not only are a pleasure to wear, but make me feel stable, secure & confident in walking...!! I tried all the rest & now I'm finally in the hands of the best...!!
Lee-Anne Clancy

The team assisted me with some new orthotics for my training and racing shoes - they took the time to inspect my old shoes and orthotics, analyse my running form, and even made some recommendations on what I should be looking for in my next pair of shoes...very knowledgeable!

I'm very happy with the fit and comfort of the orthotics, especially as they were comfy straight from the first use! Looking forward to seeing Lawrence and the team again for some orthotics for my trail shoes.
