Lawrence founded The Feet People in 2012 after many years of experience working in private practice, sports podiatry clinics, footwear stores, orthotic laboratories and community and aged care settings in Brisbane, Toowoomba and Melbourne. He now spends his time leading his team to be the best version of themselves.
Lawrence became a podiatrist to help people and believes that this is the core purpose of his life. He was first exposed to podiatry as a teenager when the local podiatrist helped with his growing pains and Pacific Islander flat feet. Lawrence was amazed at how orthotics & exercises improved his issues and thought that he would love to learn how to help other people walk & exercise without pain.
As a podiatrist, Lawrence is an all rounder, with a special interest in falls prevention for the elderly, treating lower limb pain associated with musculoskeletal conditions, prevention and treatment of diabetic foot disease and sports injury rehabilitation. He is currently leading the profession in clinically implementing falls prevention programs that are changing the lives of our patients, while also pushing the profession forward. As well as this, he spends his time leading his team to grow and be the best version of themselves.
A fun fact about Lawrence, he was the U16 and U18 QLD Weightlifting Champion in 2003, and is currently training in Olympic Weightlifting. Add this on to other out-of-work activities like indoor rock climbing and bouldering, social cycling, travelling (prior to 2020), developing himself as a leader, and spending time with his family and friends (including his Cavoodle, Lola and young daughter, Grace) — we honestly don’t know where he finds the time.
Lawrence has stepped back from treating for the time being, to focus on growing and developing a world-class podiatry team. But don’t worry, you’ll still see his face around the clinics, so feel free to stop him for a chat.
