Lawrence Taufahema founded The Feet People in 2012 with one purpose: to solve the lower limb problems that haven't responded to standard care. If you've been told to rest, given orthotics, and are still in pain, this is where you come next.
Lawrence became a podiatrist because of a podiatrist. As a teenager, lower limb pain was getting in the way of sport, training, and everything he loved. The right clinical care changed that, and the experience shaped a career built around the same outcome for every patient: getting people back to doing what they love.
Musculoskeletal and Tendon Injuries
Lawrence's core focus is complex musculoskeletal injuries of the lower limb, including tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, plantar
fibromas, and soft tissue tears. He has completed advanced tendinopathy training with Associate Professor Peter Malliaras of Monash
University and applies a structured, load-based rehabilitation plan to every case. Most patients don't need more orthotics. They need a
specific plan built around their injury, their body, and their goals.
Women's Musculoskeletal Health
Lawrence has a particular focus on musculoskeletal conditions affecting women during perimenopause and post-menopause. Oestrogen decline
significantly impacts tendon and connective tissue health, yet this dimension is rarely addressed in standard foot and ankle care. If
your lower limb pain has developed or worsened in midlife and you haven't found clear answers, this is a specific area of his practice.
Neurological Conditions
Lawrence specialises in lower limb management for people living with neurological conditions including cerebral palsy, stroke, multiple
sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and peripheral neuropathy. The focus is always functional: improving mobility, rebuilding confidence,
and getting people back to daily life. He works closely with neurological physiotherapists and specialists across Brisbane to deliver
coordinated, goal-directed care.
Children and Adolescent Lower Limb Health
Lawrence has deep experience in paediatric and adolescent lower limb presentations, from developmental flat feet through to
hypermobility conditions including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, and Marfan syndrome. He also manages
growth-related conditions including Sever's disease, Osgood-Schlatter disease, Köhler's disease, and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. He
has completed specialist training in hypermobility and gait management with Natalie Bennett-Bremner, Sports Physiotherapist and creator
of Spiral Skins.
Before podiatry, Lawrence was QLD Under 16 and Under 18 Weightlifting Champion. That background in load and physical performance still shapes how he thinks about injury and rehabilitation today. Outside the clinic, he trains regularly, travels when he can, and spends time with family. He leads the team at The Feet People and is as invested in their development as he is in his own.
